3.1 General
The specified measurements shall be conducted under the conditions specified in Clauses 3.2 to 3.7
and Appendix F.
3.2 Condition and installation of dryer
The measurements shall be carried out on a dryer installed and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Where manufacturer’s instructions are in conflict with the specifications of this Standard, the methods specified in this Standard shall be used. Before measurements are commenced, the dryer shall be checked to see that it has no defects which could affect the operation of the unit.
3.3 Lint trap
Where the dryer is equipped with a lint trap, it shall be thoroughly cleaned before each test run.
3.4 Exhaust
3.4.1 General
In all cases, the airflow around the dryer shall be unobstructed. This condition shall be met by maintaining a minimum 100 mm clearance from adjacent walls or partitions at the sides and back of the dryer.
3.4.2 Dryers requiring an exhaust duct
Where the dryer needs to be operated with a duct or deflector fitted, as intended by the manufacturer, the tests shall be carried out with this item fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
3.4.3 Dryers with an optional exhaust duct
Where a dryer is designed to operate with an optional exhaust duct, the dryer shall be tested without the duct fitted, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions for operation without a duct.
3.4.4 Dryers without an exhaust duct
Where a dryer is designed solely to operate without an exhaust duct, the test shall be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
3.4.5 Recording of results
Details of the exhaust duct or deflector fitted, if any, shall be recorded on the test report.
3.5 Program settings
Except where stated otherwise in Clause D.2.4, the following shall apply:
(a) Manual and timer dryers shall be set on maximum temperature.
(b) Autosensing dryers shall be set on the chosen program, i.e. the program under test.
(c) Where the drying temperature can be chosen independently of the program on an autosensing dryer, it shall be set to the maximum.AS NZS 2442.1 pdf download.
